Just to help out if you have a problem with tfm.

Wall jumping, shaman, and how to pro it!

Three Methods: Wall jumping, being a pro shaman, and just being shaman.

If you're new in Transformice you'll might be wondering how you can wall jump, summon items when you're a shaman and be a gold shaman. You might also wonder what totems are. It can be helpful to read about all of this at the start, so that you can feel empowered to play the game in an informed way. Get help with the things you need to know by going through these suggestions.

Method 1 of 3: Wall jumping

  1. Become Pro on Transformice Step 1.jpg
    1
Start out wall jumping on chocolate. Wall jumping on chocolate is the easiest out of all the grounds.
    • The red colored ground is lava, if you touch it you get thrown in the air then die. But you can stop that by pressing and holding up while crossing it.
Become Pro on Transformice Step 1Bullet1.jpg
    • The purple ground is a trampoline. It's possible to wall-jump it. Instead of jumping away from the wall, just jump, then run towards the wall, then when you bounce away from it, jump again. It's not likely you'll need this though, unless you're playing bootcamp.
Become Pro on Transformice Step 1Bullet2.jpg
    • The light blue ground is ice, which can't be wall jumped. (Unless it's slanted slightly) You can corner-jump it more easily than any other ground.
Become Pro on Transformice Step 1Bullet3.jpg
    • The brown ground is earth. It's pretty much the same as wood. It's usually pretty easy to wall jump on it.
Become Pro on Transformice Step 1Bullet4.jpg
  2. 2
To wall-jump, simply fall towards the wall, then once you're touching the wall, jump away from it and jump. Then you should be able to run towards it again to reset your jump. Remember you have to fall into the wall.
  3. 3
To practice wall-jumping, corner-jumping, or whatever you want to practice, go to a private room. Do this by typing /room vanilla *your username here*.

Method 2 of 3: Shaman

  1. Become Pro on Transformice Step 2.jpg
    1
Try to save the mice when you're shaman.
  2. Become Pro on Transformice Step 3.jpg
    2
When you're shaman, get items on the bottom right corner, or by pressing the number keys. Press space to make an invisible item that mice can't touch.
  3. Become Pro on Transformice Step 3Bullet3.jpg
    3
When someone can't get up to the cheese even if you've built a ramp, click the balloon or press 3, then press C. Hover the little circle over their mouse then click and hold. Only do this if other mice have been able to get the cheese, or people will get annoyed with you.
  4. Become Pro on Transformice Step 3Bullet2.jpg
    4
Use the items you have to make bridges, ramps, lifts, anvil gods, etc.
  5. Become Pro on Transformice Step 3Bullet4.jpg
    5
Make these aforementioned items as follows:
    • To make a bridge, or a ramp to get to the cheese, you need to know how to make anchors, what they do, and how to use them.
    • To make a stable start to a bridge, or a stabilizer for a wobbly build, get a plank from the items list, then press B.
    • To make a stabilizer for a plank that's moving when it's not supposed to, simply click and hold the anchor against the plank.
    • To make a stable start for a ramp/bridge, always summon it against the ground so it's touching the ground on both sides of the, because B planks rotate around the B anchor. Next, get another plank from the items list, then press C twice. Use your scroll wheel to rotate it. There's also other planks like V, N, and J.
  6. 6
Practise a lot. The main thing to remember with shamanic is practice. Remember, /room vanilla *your username here*.

Method 3 of 3: Being a Pro Sham on Tfm

  1. 1
When you are sham, you have skills that can help you. Skill points are earned when you level up and you can buy skills with them.
  2. 2
When you have bought 5 skills on the first lvl (level), or any level, then you progress to the next level.
  3. 3
Buy skills you want, or like to use.
    • By the way, if you have "Big Spirit" in the 'Mechanic' section, you can spawn things super fast.
  4. 4
On Transformice, if you rescue 1000 mice you can be a hard mode sham. If you're a hard mode sham, red nail for the plank (B button on keyboard) is gone, and Sp (spirit; the spark that makes you go up) is gone. Instead, there is totem feather. A totem is something you can spawn that doesn't have to be assembled; to make your totem click the feather in hard mode that says "Edit Totem".
  5. 5
You become sham when your name reaches the top of the list. When you become sham, don't sit there, help the mice get the cheese.
    • Remember, you can always learn the basics in you are new by clicking 'Help'.
    • Leave no mouse behind, and only kill mice if you are in survivor (where mice are killed by sham and have to survive).
    • You can only enter the hole when all the mice have been saved.
    • Don't get angry with the mice; don't kill them.
  6. 6
If you are in survivor mode, you have no choice but to kill all the mice. However, you can save your friends. For example: attaching a balloon by pressing the B key and attaching the balloon string to the mouse intended.

    GOOD LUCK!

Favorite Events!!!

Ok, well all have them we all crave for those awesome events to come! mine is the Halloween event and its coming soon. each year ive noticed they get different maps and different gear different ways to make the -game irresistible.

so ill show you some recent maps throughout the years that they have used!

The one year it was gather the candy (this one was great)

The slot machines.

The ghosts.

Thats just a few off the top of my mouse head.

Comment below you favourite holiday event and ill make a posting just for you!! And post your name on transformice.

Special Events!

                                                 Special Events

Hi mice!!

I'm sure you have all noticed they have special events in which you can earn prizes etc... this time is the fishing and getting prises for the map that you cant do anything on...the fishing maps give you sometimes the chests! thats what you need for the maps.

(message below)

Last year you found the endangered Indiana Mouse’s journal… Thanks to all the mice who came to his rescue and helped him find the pieces of the lost relics.

This year, once again, we need you!

We found fragments of the past in the depths of the ocean. We would have asked Indiana Mouse to recover them for us but unfortunately he’s still being hold by the natives…

These fragments are of crucial importance: art pieces of all kinds, we definitely need them to furnish the new museum.

And watch out for the booby traps!!!

But, beware! The way you successfully accomplished last year’s quest hasn’t been appreciated by the natives. This time, they got really creative by sprinkling the paths with the most dangerous traps.

Mice with an adventurous soul : this task is for you!Your mission, should you choose to accept it, involves:

  • Surviving
  • Fishing the pieces buried in the depth of the ocean
  • Returning them to the museum
We will reward each of you according to your success!

Good luck!

Map Editing

The map editor was released as part of update 0.63 on August 22, 2010. It's an official Transformice feature tool for helping mice to create user-generated maps. It's used to make maps, and without it, we would be stuck playing the same maps over and over. The map maker is the essence of uniqueness, and users use it to make maps so we may play them on Transformice.
Maps can then be published to everyone, and will be spawned randomly. Currently, the game interchanges between playing an official map, followed by a user created one. At the end of playing an unofficial map, players can vote if they like the map or not. If the popularity vote is below 50% and the map has 100 votes, maps get deleted from the server.
The numbers on the top bar indicate:
  • Grounds: #/50 means your ground limit. # is the number of grounds you have placed already. You can only place 50 grounds in a map. All grounds count towards this limit, it doesn't matter if they are dynamic or not.
  • Objects: #/30 means your object limit. 'Objects' are those that are found in the list of 'Shaman objects' (see left). Dynamic grounds do not count towards this. You may have a maximum of 30 objects in one map.
Related to the topic, the decorations limit is 40. This is supposedly there to avoid decoration spam.

Creating Edit

Interface
The basic interface
The level editor can be accessed by clicking on the menu button and then pressing "Map Editor". This takes the player to a different room from the one they were in - [Editeur] (and player's name next to it). No one besides that person can enter the room.
At the bottom of the editor are 5 categories:
  • Selector: When clicked, the player can click on already created objects to change their positions or delete them. While a "ground" or an "object" is selected, the player can change its properties. Everything has the X and Y Location properties.
    • For "Grounds", these properties include Length, Height, Dynamic Ground (whether or not it is movable while playing the map), Mass (The "density" of the ground, most commonly used for weight), Friction, Restitution (Also known as bounciness), Rotation (The angle at which the ground is set at the beginning of map play), Fixed rotation (Whether or not the ground can be rotated during play), Linear Damping (The slowness of a ground in relation to gravity and the mass of the object moving it), and Angular Damping (The slowness of a ground in rotating).
    • For "Shaman Objects", these properties include only Rotation and Ghost Object (whether or not an object is invisible during play and mice can move through it). This does not apply to "Anchors", however, which have no properties other than X and Y Location (along with "Mice Stuff."
  • Grounds: This allows the player to put normal ground, ice ground, purple (trampoline) ground, red (lava) ground, or sticky (chocolate) ground into the stage. Click and drag to create large pieces of ground. These "preset" grounds have preset settings already. In comparison to normal ground, ice ground has 0 Friction; trampoline ground has 0 Friction and 1.2 Restitution (as opposed to 0.2); lava ground has 0 Friction and 20 Restitution; and chocolate ground has 20 Friction (and 0.2 Restitution).
  • Mice stuff: This allows the player to place mouse holes and cheese, and to specify where the shaman and the mice will spawn. On 7 July 2011, a new feature was added. You can now add decorations, like trees, grass and sand elements onto your map.
  • Shaman objects: This allows the player to place shaman items and anchors onto the map.
  • Map Settings: This allows the player to change the gravity, wind, collision (overlap) mode, and soul mates (partners) mode. The night mode setting has been removed, however, some maps such as Map 97 still have it.
There is currently a limit of 30 items per user created level and 40 ground blocks, though this can be exceeded with XML editing. (See below.)
Bug Bug.If Mice Spawn or Shaman Spawn is selected with Selector, it will follow computer's mouse within game area, until player clicks something else on map, or menu with map editor stuff.
(Other Shaman Items)
You can place Shaman Items that aren't available in editor menu by copying the map to the clipboard and editing the B value for objects.
-The items seem to have been here since the August 20th update.

PublishingEdit

A level must be validated before it can be published. After pressing "validate level" you will start the level as a shaman, and you must get to the cheese and bring it to the hole to validate your map and prove that your level can be solved. After you have validated it you may upload your level. To upload a level, you must have already collected 1,000 overall, as well have 40 cheese in your possession at the time. The 40 cheese will be taken, but the 1,000 cheese is simply a prerequisite and will not be taken from you. After it has been uploaded it is available for other mice to play and vote on. You will be given a code that will allow you to reload your map to make changes and to see what your map's popularity is.

VotingEdit

User created maps are randomly chosen in game just like the official maps are. After the level is finished only the mice that gathered more than 500 cheese are given the option to vote on the level. Users can see the current number of votes and the current percentage. They may vote yes, no, or don't vote. After a short period of time the voting window is closed. If a user has not voted by this time no vote is counted for them. Voting occurs after the map has finished and before the next map will start. The map will be deleted if less than 50% of the users say that they liked it. Ratings do not go into effect until a total of 50 votes have been cast. Maps are not immediately deleted once they reach under 50% rating, they might be deleted on a frequent basis.

ControversyEdit

Due to the fact voting is open to all mice, who all have their own map preference, some players feel that maps get rated on the difficulty rather than the quality of the map. Some players enjoy easier maps whilst others prefer more of a challenge or more unique maps. This can cause a difference in opinion regarding the voting system. In an attempt to improve the quality of submitted maps, it was made so a requirement of 1000+ collected cheese is needed to upload a map as well as the sacrificing of 40 cheese. However again, people disagree on whether this attempt was a success.

GroundsEdit

Map editor grounds
The picture (right) shows a list of all the grounds available to you in the map editor. Each has it's own properties, but these can, of course, be edited. I will name them anyway, and give you the default properties.
  1. Wood. It is the most basic of all grounds, with no special properties of its own. It is what comes to mind when you think, 'ground'. This ground can be walljumped. (ID #0)
  2. Ice. It is a slippery ground, normally having 0 friction. That means it is slippery, and when mice stop, they keep sliding. It is, however, possible to get a grip on this ground, because you are still able to change your direction while sliding. This ground cannot be walljumped. (ID #1)
  3. Trampoline. It is a bouncy ground, due to having higher restitution/bounciness. It cannot be walljumped on due to no friction. (ID #2)
  4. Lava. This ground is supposedly very hot, but actually it has very high resitution/bounciness. It is able to bounce mice off the map in 1 hit. (ID #3)
  5. Chocolate. This ground had the most friction of all the grounds. It is easier to wall jump than most of the grounds and it can be a problem when mice with cheese are walking upon it. (ID #4)
  6. Earth. See Wood ground. (ID #5)
  7. Grass. See Wood ground. (ID #6)
  8. Sand. See Wood ground. Also, this ground is harder to walljump. (ID #7)
  9. Cloud. This ground is the same as a 'ghost' ground, letting mice pass through but not objects. (ID #8)
  10. Water. This ground has no restitution, friction and cannot be made dynamic. Its properties cannot be edited. This ground lets mice normally float up to the top, but mice with cheese will rapidly sink. (ID #9)
  11. Stone. See Wood ground. (Also, this ground has no restitution, but it's hard to tell.) (ID #10)
  12. Snow. See Sand ground. However, this is even more difficult to walljump. (ID #11)
  13. Rectangle. A simple rectangle that can be edited to have any properties. (ID #12)
  14. Circle. A simple circle that can be edited to have any properties. (ID #13)

Hidden GroundsEdit

These grounds can be only accessed by editing the XML. They will not show up in the ground options.
  1. Invisible. Self-explainitory. It will show up as a wood ground while editing your map. (ID #14)
  2. Web. A sticky ground covered in spider webs that is very difficult to handle. (ID #15)
Italics mean this ground is mainly used for decorative purposes.

XML EditingEdit

Please note that XML editing is completely optional and not needed at all for standard maps. Simply using the map editor makes this XML for you behind the scenes. XML editing is often needed for more complex maps, or to bypass editor constraints (such as not allowing negative mass, or making a scrolling map). This section attempts to cover XML basics, however for more information check official forums
If you don't know about XML, you can learn more about XML on Wikipedia. In short, XML is comprised of tags and attributes. Tags have 2 different ways they can be written:
  • Element tag: <X>[more tags]</X>
  • Empty element tag: <X />
In Transformice, most data for our maps is store in empty element tags, with element tags primarily being used to to hold all the remaining tags.
Attributes go inside the tags like so, with the H being the attribute name and the "data" being the attribute value:
<X H="data" />
The XML of a map can be taken from the map editor by going to "Save / Load / Test", and hitting "Copy map to clipboard". From here, you should paste it into a text editor (a popular choice is notepad++). To place XML back into the editor, go to the "Save / Load / Test", and paste it in the text area right above the "load" button, and then hit load.

Patch NotesEdit

  • Patch 0.72: Admins can designate user-made maps as official maps, causing them to load only on the official maps. These are distinguished from non-permanent maps by the yellow creator's name and a cheese icon next to it.

New to transformice

                          Transformice 101

You’re a little mouse and you have only one thing in mind : acquire the delicious cheese and bring it back to the hole. In order to help you, a player will be chosen to be the powerful shaman and will be able to spawn different objects to guide you.

Cheese MOUSE
I. Your purpose:
The purpose of the game is simple : you have to pick up the cheese and bring it back to the hole where you and your fellow mice will be able to enjoy it. The more cheese you recover, the more titles you’ll earn. Each cheese you bring back will also add one more cheese to the shop. This cheese will allow you to:
  • Buy some items in the shop to personalize your mouse.
  • Create some maps via the map editor. (Starts at 40 cheese. If you make good maps the cost can go down !)
II. How to play:
Use the arrow keys or WASD to move your mouse, press Up or W to jump.

III. Grounds:
In order (hover your cursor over the pics of the different grounds to see their names):

  • Wooden / Grass / Earth / Snow / Stone grounds – Wood ground is the basic ground of the game. Grass, earth, snow and stone grounds share similar properties with wood ground but have a different look; their purpose is to be decorative grounds.
  • Chocolate ground – This ground has way more friction than wooden, grass, earth, snow and stone grounds. Mice can grip easily to this ground and climb it. (link)
  • Sand ground – This ground has a little less friction than wooden, grass, earth, and stone grounds. It’s harder for mice to grip to this ground and climb it.
  • Ice ground – This ground has way less friction than wooden, grass, earth, snow and stone grounds. Mice can’t grip to this ground and can’t climb it.
  • Trampoline ground: Mice can bounce on this ground.
  • Lava ground: If you touch lava, cancel your bounce with a jump in order to not fly too high. Otherwise, expect death.
  • Water ground – Mice without cheese can float on the surface of this ground, while the poor mice with cheese on their back will sink like a stone !
  • Cloud ground – This ground is really special ! Mice can go through it but items can’t. (link)
Cheese SHAMAN
“You’re the shaman! Help your disciples to get the cheese!”
The shaman is the mouse who guides all the other mice to the cheese and then to the hole thanks to several objects she can spawn via the menu (link). They also can tie these objects thanks to a variety of anchors with different properties. This way, they can build safe structures on which you’ll be able to run.
The shaman has the most important role and players totally depend on them. They are often indispensable on your quest to the cheese.
I. How to control the shaman:
Click on one item from the list at the bottom right to select it. Click again at the place you want to put it and keep it pressed to summon the chosen item.
Most of the items have to be summoned near the shaman. In that case, you’ll see a blue circle around your mouse: it shows you where you can spawn an item (link). Use the scrolling wheel or the Z/Ctrl keys to rotate the object before spawning it; you can also use X or Shift to rotate it the other way. Don’t try to summon any item outside this circle, it’ll turn red and you won’t be able to summon it.

II. Items :
  • Arrow: The arrow allows you to lead mice and shows them where to go.
  • Spirit: The spirit is a little explosion that can be spawned anywhere on the map. It is mainly used to propel mice for short distance.
  •  Balloon: The balloon is an object that floats until it comes in contact with an other object. It can be tied to any other objects or mice thanks to the anchors and makes them fly too.
  • Rune: When it’s spawned, the rune will cross the map along the same lines as the arrow until it comes in contact with an other object. In that case, it’ll push it. Runes can be tied to any other objects to push them in accordance with the shaman’s wishes.
  •  Little box / Big box: Mice can climb on them.
  • Anvil: The anvil is a really heavy item, it’s mainly use to weigh the other items down to prevent them from moving. Because of its weight, it’s hard for mice to move it.
  •  Little plank / Large plank: Mice can climb on planks. Planks are mainly use to build bridges and several other structures to allow mice to obtain the cheese.
  • Ball: A simple ball that bounces.
  •  Canon: Canons share the same properties with anvils, the only difference resides in its movement. Cannons are shot in the direction of their arrow and won’t stop until they come in contact with a blocked item. Shamans mainly use them to get rid of useless items or annoying mice.
  • Conjuration: The conjuration is directly spawned without any waiting period and it’s composed of small blue blocks that you draw with your cursor. These blocks disappear after 10 seconds and mice can walk on it. The conjuration is available for only some few maps.
  •   Portals: Portals are two items that allow mice to teleport from one to the other one. Mice can go in or out either portal.
III. Anchors
Anchors allow shaman to tie several spawned objects. The only way to create one of these anchors is to push C, V, B, N or J keys after selecting an item and before summoning it. If you push these keys several times, you’ll also be able to choose the anchor’s position on the item !
There are 4 different types of anchors and each of them has its own specific use :
  •   – C – Yellow Anchor – This anchor needs to be attached to another item and make this item unable to rotate. It’s mainly used to build bridges and several buildings.
  •   – B – Red Anchor – This anchor can be directly attached to the map or to any other item, but it can only be selected with a plank. Items are limited to a single red anchor and can’t be attached to any item that has a red anchor. Its main function is to rotate, and that’s not all! Red anchors have an other nice function: they can be placed on a dynamic item in order to prevent them to move!
  •   – V – Blue Anchor – This anchor needs to be attached to another item. It hinges the item.
  •    – N and J – Blue Motorized Anchors – These anchors are to be attached to another item. They share the same properties with the blue anchor but the difference resides in the fact they can rotate automatically thanks to their motor.
IV. Ghost items
A ghost item is easily recognizable thanks to its transparency and its blue shade. These items work like the cloud ground: mice can go through them but items can’t. Each item can become a ghost item (except spirit, portals and conjuration). To ghost an item, press the spacebar after selecting it from the menu.

V. Hard Shamans
You’re now a “pro” which means you saved more than 1.000 mice! You know all the in and out about the shaman and you’re certainly looking for some new challenges! The Hard Mode has been made for you!
Click the feather next to the menu (link) and select “Use shaman hard mode” (link). The first thing you’ll notice immediatly is your new shaman skin! Your tatoo’s color is now gold, but you’ll also be able to change it now via this same window. (link)

But those aren’t its only features. Hard mode shamans can’t summon any spirit nor use any red anchor anymore! Nonetheless they can create a totem to help them. Click on “Edit your Totem” (link) to create yours !
A totem is a pre-made build that can be summoned once per map. This building can be anything : it can be decorative like this “mouse totem” or more useful like this bridge. Once you saved your totem and once you’re the shaman, you can spawn your totem thanks to this icon.

Cheese OTHER
I. Different rooms
There are three different types of rooms :
  • Your mouse will always spawn in a public room, they are easily recognizable since they are numbered room from 1 and tend towards infinity (the number of room adapts with the number of mice playing). Public rooms play vanilla maps (maps created by Tigrounette and numbered from 0 to 137) and maps created by players via the map editor.
  • Vanilla rooms only plays vanilla map (maps created by Tigrounette and numbered from 0 to 137). Each room’s name containing the word “vanilla” will automatically be a vanilla room.
  • For mice more familiar to the game and for mice who learned various complicated techniques, there are also bootcamp rooms! In these rooms, there is no shaman and maps are complicated but still completable alone! Each turn lasts 6 minutes and mice respawn every 15 seconds if they’ve die. Statistics don’t count in bootcamp rooms.
II. Commands
  • /room: This command allows you to switch to a random room. Type /room followed by the room name you want to go in: type /room 10 if you want to go to the room 10 or /room fromage if you want to go to the room fromage.
  • /bootcamp: It works like /room but will send you in a bootcamp room.
  • /vanilla: It works like /room but will send you in a vanilla room.
  • /editor: This command will send you to the map editor.
  • /totem: This command will send you to the totem editor.
  • /w nickname: This command allows you to whisper a message to another mouse.
  • /friend nickname: This command allows you to add “nickname” in your friends list.
  • /profile nickname: This command allows you to see the profile of the player “nickname“.
  • /mute nickname: This command allows you to totaly ignore a player’s messages. You won’t receive any more whispers from him nor will you see him talking in the public chat.
  • /ban nickname: Players have the ability to exclude a player from the game for an hour via the popular vote. This command is taken into consideration if the player is in your room. Warning: any abuse will be punished.
  • /title: This command lists the titles you’ve earned by bringing cheese back or rescuing mice. To choose one of these titles, type /title followed by the number of the title you want. For example if you want the title “Little Mouse” you have to type /title 0.
  • /silence: This command lets you to toggle your whispers.
  • /facebook: This command will open the Transformice’s facebook page in your web browser. It’ll also give you 20 cheese the first time you use it.
